Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act 2010 replaces, and brings into one statute, the previous anti-discrimination legislation. This Cross-Referencing Tool sets out all the previous legislation and, as far as is possible, identifies on a section by section basis where the corresponding provisions are to be found in the 2010 Act and any supporting Regulations.
However, the Equality Act 2010 is not a consolidating act – it contains new concepts and provisions, and certain provisions in the previous legislation are not maintained. This means that some sections of the repealed laws simply do not appear in the 2010 Act; likewise not every section of the 2010 Act has its roots in the laws it replaces. Furthermore, although provisions may have been carried over as such, many have been amended to come into line with the rationale behind the Equality Act 2010.
To use the Tool, simply click on the "old" legislation in question, and then on the subsection you wish to track – provided it has an identifiable “destination”, then a direct link to the corresponding section in the Equality Act 2010 is displayed.
