Special rules which formerly applied where overseas employment is involved in a redundancy case were abolished with effect from 25th October 1999.

There are still special rules for calculating the period of employment in respect of which statutory redundancy pay can be claimed if an employee worked outside Great Britain for part of his period of service (see REDUNDANCY/qualifying period and REDUNDANCY/calculation of statutory redundancy pay/reduction for overseas service ).
