NOTES

  • The Employment Protection Code of Practice (Disclosure of Information) Order 1998, SI 1998/45 came into effect on 5th February 1998.
  • The Employment Protection Code of Practice (Time Off) Order 1998, SI 1998/46 came into effect on 5th February 1998.
  • The Employment Code of Practice (Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures) Order 2004, SI 2004/2356 was made on 4th September 2004 to be in effect on 1st October 2004.
  • ACAS Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures (CoP 1) 2004 was revised with effect from 1st October 2004
  • ACAS Code of Practice on Disclosure of information to trade unions for collective bargaining purposes (CoP 2) 1997 was revised in 1997
  • ACAS Code of Practice on Time Off for Trade Union duties and activities (CoP 3) 2003 was revised in April 2003

    BASIC POSITION

    ACAS has power to issue Codes of Practice under TULRCA 1992 s.199 "containing such practical guidance as it sees fit for the purpose of promoting the improvement of industrial relations" (see CODES OF PRACTICE ).

    It has issued three Codes of Practice. They are:-
