    BASIC POSITION

    The rules forbidding an employer from making unauthorised deductions from wages are stricter in retail trade than in other operations.

    Basically, additional rules apply for the benefit of those engaged in retail employment except when their final instalment of wages is being paid (ERA 1996 s.22).
