CAUTION: go to notes on Equality Act 2010/changes made by the Act for changes to discrimination law in effect from 1st October 2010. The unique emplaw EA 2010 cross-reference tool will locate new statutory references for you.

Subscribers to the full (professional) version of this website can access from here a copy of the EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS ACT 1996 as amended (the link gives subscribers access to the full text of a specially prepared unofficial and regularly updated version of the Act with amendments and annotations, including commencement dates, noted in colour).

Official versions (as originally enacted in 1996) of both the Employment Rights Act 1996 and the Employment Tribunals Act 1996 are available on the government Acts of Parliament website.

There is also a partly updated copy of the Employment Rights Act 1996 available on the government Statute Law Database website.

When enacted, the Employment Tribunals Act 1996 was called the Industrial Tribunals Act 1996. Its name was changed on 1st August 1998 at the same time as Industrial Tribunals were renamed "Employment Tribunals" (Employment Rights (Dispute Resolution) Act 1998 s.1 and see Acts of Parliament etc/Employment Rights (Dispute Resolution) Act 1998/Renaming of industrial tribunals ).
