Disability Discrimination Act 1995 s.57 is entitled "Aiding unlawful acts".
Disability Discrimination Act 1995 s.57 (as amended by the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 s.38(9) and (10)) makes it a criminal offence for a person knowingly or recklessly to make a false or misleading statement to the effect that "because of any provision of this Act" an act would not be an unlawful act.
An "unlawful act" for this purpose includes any act made unlawful by the employment provisions of the Act (ie by ss.4 to 18 and sch 3 Pt 1).
The penalty on summary conviction is a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale (see notes at Criminal law aspects/fines (levels of), for offences ).
