an employee can win a claim for compensation for the risk that he will suffer financial loss on account of illness(es) caused by the tortious conduct of the employer (in this case, exposure to asbestos) but to the extent that this risk is due to another illness wholly unconnected to the tort (in this case, heart disease from smoking cigarettes), the employee carries that a risk.
