Authority for the proposition that:-

an individual is bound to fail in an equal pay claim unless the terms and conditions of both her employment and that of her chosen comparator are fixed by a "single source".

The Court of Appeal referred aspects of the case to the European Court of Justice which gave its ruling (see below and notes at Allonby v Accrington & Rossendale College & ors ECJ 2004 ) supporting the above proposition on 13th January 2004.
