The Bridge decision - money purchase or defined benefit?

This is a note from CMS Cameron McKenna on a recent case in which the meaning of the phrase "money purchase benefits" in Pensions legislation was considered (specifically for the purposes of Pensions Act 1995 s.73) The Court of Appeal had previously suggested that the phrase should be given a narrow, restrictive, interpretation, with the advantage of providing certainty (Aon Trust Corpn v KPMG (a firm) [2005] EWCA Civ 1004).
