Basic Position

Authority for the proposition that

in order to have a claim under Race Relations Act 1976 an employee must show not only that there has been racial discrimination against him but also that he has suffered "detriment" - ie he must have been disadvantaged in the circumstances of his work or have reasonably thought himself to be so.
