- From 5 April 2015, adoption leave is a day one right.
- An employee must have been matched with a child by an adoption agency (private adoptions do not qualify).
- Up to 52 weeks of adoption leave is available.
- The partner of the primary adopter, the “secondary adopter”, can take paternity leave.
- Adopters are able to take shared parental leave from 5 April 2015.
