Ms Hartel worked in the admin department of the Al-Ghazali Multi-Cultural Centre, which runs a youth club. She resigned in October 2005 and claimed construcive unfair dismissal. She claimed that she had been badly treated for almost a year, ever since she had expressed concern about a new employee who had a conviction for a sexual offence having contact with children at the centre. An employment tribunal found in her favour that she had been unfairly dismissed and subjected to a detriment on the ground that she had made a protected disclosure. The employer appealed
