Amey Services Ltd v Cardigan & ors - Employer's defence not required in equal pay case until prima facie claim made out  EAT
Mrs Cardigan, Mrs Marr and others submitted Equal Pay Act claims against Edinburgh Council and, where work had been contracted out, Amey. None of the claim forms identified a comparator. At the outset the employment tribunal ordered Edinburgh and Amey to provide written explanations for any difference in pay. Edinburgh and Amey appealed.
