Mr Young was a handyman at Ardtaraig Estate (AE). By 2006 AE considered a full-time handyman was no longer needed, and savings could be made by using a self-employed contractor instead. Mr Young offered to work part-time, but was dismissed as redundant. A self-employed gamekeeper was tasked with covering his duties.
