Assoukou v Select Services Partners Ltd and ors - £0 award by tribunal upheld [2005] EAT

Mr Assoukou claimed unfair dismissal and sex discrimination against Select Services Partners Ltd. They did not put in a Notice of Appearance in time. Judgment was therefore given in favour of Mr Assoukou but (apart from basic award on unfair dismissal of £160) he got zero compensation. This was because a few days after his employment ended it became illegal for him to work in the UK under the terms of his entry to the UK.

The EAT dismissed his appeal against the award of zero compensation award.
