Aziz-Mir v. Sainsbury’s Supermarket Plc - certificates of correction - EAT 15.12.06

An EAT registrar refused to allow an appeal by Mr Aziz-Mir against a judgment by the Leeds employment tribunal because it was out of time. Mr Aziz-Mir appealed against this refusal and has won, in rather peculiar circumstances. The employment tribunal had made a mistake in the numbering on the top of the judgment. To correct this clerical error the chairman signed a certificate of correction which stated that the correction was made "by deleting the reasons [previously provided] and substituting ... the reasons attached hereto".
