Bapio Action Ltd & Anor, R (on the application of) v Secretary of State for the Home Department & Anor - Changes in Immigration Rules applying to foreign doctors [2007] EWHC
Changes to the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) introduced in March 2006 abolished permit-free training for non-EU medical professionals. One of the results was to make it much more difficult for doctors from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to work in Britain. The British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO) applied for judicial review of the decision to introduce those new Immigration Rules and of the DH guidance.
