Bird v Stoke -on-Trent Primary Care Trust - redundancy: the suitability of, and reasonableness of refusal of, alternative employment

Entitlement to redundancy pay can depend on whether an alternative post was suitable for, and reasonably declined by, the redundant employee. "Suitability" must be objectively considered in all the circumstances, but "reasonableness" must be assessed from the point of view of that particular employee based on the situation as it appeared (or ought to have appeared) to them at the time.
