Collins & Ashbourne v Department for Constitutional Affairs - Territorial scope of unfair dismissal and fixed-term workers protection [2007] EAT
Mr Collins and Mr Ashbourne were employed by DfES to teach in European schools providing education for the children of EU officials. Their service was totally outside the UK - C in Bergen and A in Brussels. The Tribunal rejected their claims of unfair dismissal and breach of Fixed-Term Employees Regulations 2002 (FTER) on the grounds that C and A worked outside the territorial scope of the legislation. C and A appealed.
