Collins & Ashbourne v Department for Constitutional Affairs - Territorial scope of unfair dismissal and fixed-term workers protection  EAT
Mr Collins and Mr Ashbourne were employed by DfES to teach in European schools providing education for the children of EU officials. Their service was totally outside the UK - C in Bergen and A in Brussels. The Tribunal rejected their claims of unfair dismissal and breach of Fixed-Term Employees Regulations 2002 (FTER) on the grounds that C and A worked outside the territorial scope of the legislation. C and A appealed.
