  • Compensation for unfair dismissal is divided into basic and compensatory awards.
  • The compensatory award is to compensate an employee for the financial losses he or she has suffered as a result of being unfairly dismissed.
  • For dismissals from 6 April 2018-5 April 2019 the maximum compensatory award is the lower of £83,682 or 52 weeks’(gross) pay and from 6 April 2019 it is the lower of £86,444 or 52 weeks’(gross) pay
