Copeland v E Coomes (Holdings) Ltd - retirement, age discrimination, unfair dismissal and revoked legislation

Tribunal erred in applying revoked legislative provisions on retirement and automatic unfair dismissal in age discrimination case.

Mrs Copeland was branch manageress in a betting shop until dismissed, on grounds of retirement, in August 2011. She claimed "automatic" unfair dismissal, either due to a failure by Coomes to properly follow the retirement procedures laid down in Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 Schedule 6, or else age discrimination.
