Dombey v (1) University of Brighton (2) Secretary of State for Education & Skills - Where a valuable benefit exists in the employment relationship, an employer is under a duty to make that known [2007] EAT
Professor Dombey's claims concerned the Teacher's Pension Scheme. The University offered a system whereby a pensionable employee, who has lost years by non-contribution or non-membership to the TPS, was entitled to buy into it. Professor Dombey claimed that she had not been notified of this. She argued before the EAT that the tribunal chairman who dismissed her claim at a pre-hearing review had disregarded this point.
