Drive Assist UK Ltd v Alderson - Polkey deduction is not a pure mathematical exercise

Assessing a Polkey reduction in compensation a tribunal must consider all material evidence: it is not just a simple mathematical exercise (even if by chance, as in this case, that approach produces the right result)

An Employment Tribunal found that Drive Assist (DA) had unfairly dismissed Mr Alderson. He was a driver who was made redundant, and DA made procedural errors in how it applied its redundancy guidance and criteria, as well as in the opportunities it gave (or rather, failed to give) Mr Alderson to challenge its scoring and subsequent decisions.
