Dugdale PLC v Cartlidge - Tribunal awards excessive compensation [2007] EAT

Mr Cartlidge brought a successful claim for unfair dismissal when his employment was terminated following his refusal to accept new shift patterns proposed by his employers. His subsequent award of £17,799.28 included a 20% uplift to reflect the employment tribunal’s finding that the dismissal had been automatically unfair and the sum of £500 for the loss of statutory rights.
