Estephane v Barts and Royal London NHS Trust - Start date of continuous employment [2007] EAT

Mr Estephane, a microbiologist, was offered employment by the Trust and signed a 'staff appointment acceptance form' on 23rd January 2005. He was unavailable on 7th February, the date suggested for the induction course which was a pre-requisite for all new employees, and it was not until 14th March 2005 that he was actually able to fulfil the Trust's condition by attending the course and starting his employment. His contract was subsequently terminated on 25th January 2006 and he claimed unfair dismissal.
