Industrial Action

Key Points

  • Economically turbulent times often see an increase in trade unions ‘flexing their muscles’ by way of industrial action.
  • Industrial action is largely governed by the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 (“TULRCA”).
  • A Code of Practice on Industrial Action Ballots and Notice to Employers must also be taken into account in relevant proceedings.
  • There are related cards on Trade Union immunity from civil action in certain cases and on strike related dismissals.
