J P Ticktum & Shranks Solicitors v Bannister - EAT will not lightly interfere with a tribunal's assessment of compensation due to a successful claimant [2007] EAT
Ms Bannister won claims of unfair dismissal and unlawful discrimination contrary to the Disability Discriination Act 1995. She started work for the employers in 1983 when she was 16 and worked for them, latterly as a legal secretary, until she was dismissed in 2005. The tribunal's award included some £11,500 for future loss of earnings and £7,500 in respect of injury to feelings, both increased by 40% under Employment Act 2002 s.31 as proper procedures had not been followed.
