Laing v Partnership in Care t/a The Spinney and Rethink [2009] EAT
A costs appeal cannot be used simply as a vehicle for other purposes.
Mr Laing, an advocacy officer for patients suffering mental illness, was employed by Rethink (the National Schizophrenia Fellowship) but worked at The Spinney, a hospital operated by Partnership in Care. Following an incident in April 2006 he was prohibited by Partnership in Care from entering one of the hospital wards and was then dismissed by Rethink.
