Maternity Health and Safety
- Employers must carry out general risk assessments if they have at least one woman employee of child bearing age.
- Employers may be under an obligation to undertake specific risk assessments relating to individual employees who are new, breastfeeding or expectant mothers.
- Employers have a duty to change new or expectant mothers’ conditions or hours of work or offer them alternative work, both at the same pay as normal, where a risk to them is identified.
