Merelie v Newcaste Primary Care Trust - striking out of disability discrimination and unfair dismissal claims
Ms Merelie is a dentist. She claimed unfair dismissal and unlawful disability discrimination by her ex-employer, Newcaste Primary Care Trust. The Trust contended it dismissed her fairly for misconduct or for some other substantial reason (effectively, an irreparable breakdown in relationships at work). It argued that there was no discrimination and any adjustments required were taken into account and, in any event, its conduct was justified.
