Millbrook Proving Ground Ltd v Jefferson - Limited investigation by employer sufficient given that misconduct was admitted [2008] EAT
Mr Jefferson was an excellent worker, highly regarded as a good, honest and disciplined man. Whilst working as head of a team at a client's factory (BMW at Cowley) he had made racist comment (repeating a Lenny Henry joke about running over black people at zebra crossings). Complaints were made and eventually he was dismissed. An employment tribunal found his dismissal unfair.
