Vicarious liability: connection between the relationship and the act

To establish vicarious liability in tort, there needs to be a relationship between the defendant and the wrongdoer and a connection between that relationship and the wrongdoer’s act or default, in order to make it just that the defendant should be held legally responsible to the victim for the consequences of the wrongdoer’s conduct.
