Popa v Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP & Others - no basis to extend appeal time limit

Dramatic events in the life of experienced litigator in person were no excuse for late filing of appeal to EAT.

Ms Popa sought to instigate employment tribunal proceedings, but unfortunately for her, on 29th March 2011, the tribunal refused to accept her claim stating that "it is not clear what claims with [sic] the jurisdiction of the Employment Tribunal you are making". Ms Popa appealed to the EAT, but her appeal was lodged 17 days outside of the 42 day time limit, and the Registrar refused to extend time to accept it.
