Serco Group Plc v Wild - Step 1 grievance procedure letter [2006] EAT

Mrs Wild brought a claim under the Equal Pay Act 1970 against her employer, Serco Group. In her claim she alleged that she had spoken to Serco's personnel officer about concerns that she was not being paid on an equal basis to men in similar roles. She alleged the reply was that "that was the way it was at Serco and that I should accept it".. Serco failed to controvert her allegation and instead argued that her claim could not proceed as she had never issued a formal statutory grievance as required since 1st October 2004 before bringing such cases.
