Shergold v Fieldway Medical Centre - Statutory Grievance Procedures [2005] EAT

From October 2004 to April 2009 it was not possible for an employee to make a tribunal claim against his employer unless he or she has first attempted to settle the dispute. The law then required him or her to initiate a "statutory grievance procedure". This case establishes that no formality was required, save that the employee must have set out his or her grievance in writing.
