SOSR as a Reason
- A dismissal can be potentially fair if it is was for “some other substantial reason” (SOSR) which justifies dismissal.
- SOSR is a catch-all category which employers can rely on when the reason for dismissal does not fit into the categories in s.98(2) ERA 1996.
- Types of SOSR include protecting the business, reputational damage, pressure from a third party or personality clashes.
