Thorpe and Soleil Investments Ltd v Poat and Lake - Grievance procedures [2005] EAT

First EAT case dealing with new-style standard and modified Grievance procedures. An important point is that where the simpler, modified, procedure is appropriate (usually where employment has ended) the employee's grievance letter MUST set out the basis for the grievance as well as what the grievance is. This is not required where the standard procedure is used (see Employment Act 2002 sch 2 pt 2)
