Unison v Bakhsh, Unison v Staunton - scope of trade union's powers of suspension EAT
Mr Bakhsh was secretary of his local branch of Unison. He was suspended from office while a disciplinary investigation under the union's rules looked into complaints against him. Unison confirmed that no charges (if any) would be formulated until the end of such investigation. Mr Bakhsh protested that his suspension had no effect since at the time he was not "facing disciplinary charges".
