VMI (Blackburn) Ltd v Camm - the draconian effect of Rule 9 (bar against taking any part in proceedings)

If a respondent fails to submit a Response to the employment tribunal within the required time, it can be debarred from taking any further part in the proceedings. The effect of such an order is total, and includes both liability and remedy hearings.
