Wings Aeromedical Services Ltd v Alderson - there is no link between a statutory "week's pay" and calculation of compensatory award - EAT 1.2.08

Mrs Alderson won a claim of unfair dismissal against Wings, who were ordered to pay her £17,065.94 compensation. Wings challenged this figure on appeal, arguing that it had been calculated wrongly in respect of both basic and compensatory awards.

The EAT has dismissed the appeal - and ordered costs against Wings since "in our judgment, this appeal never had any merit and never had any chance of success. It was misconceived, it was unreasonably started and has been unreasonably pursued.".
