Written Statement of Employment Particulars

Key Points

  • It is a legal requirement that employers provide their employees with a written statement of employment particulars setting out specified minimum basic terms within two months of the start of their employment (s.1 Employment Rights Act 1996 (ERA 1996)).
  • The written statement of employment particulars is only bare minimum which an employee will require however and in practice, a more detailed formal contract will be desirable in most cases, which can include those matters set out at s.1 ERA 1996.
