Corr v IBC Vehicles - injury at work, depression, suicide, employer's liability - Court of Appeal 31.3.06
Mr Corr was severely injured at work. His employer admitted negligence and/or breach of statutory duty (and it or its insurer paid £85K). Mr Corr suffered severe depression as well as physical injury and committed suicide 6 years after the accident. His widow as executor brought a claim under the Fatal Accidents Act 1976. The High Court dismissed the claim on the basis that his suicide was not reasonably forseeable.
