Brash-Hall v Getty Images Ltd - compensation for loss of job while on maternity leave - Court of Appeal on 9.5.06

Mrs Brash-Hall partially won a tribunal case against her employer, Getty Images (she had resigned at the end of maternity leave as she was not offered back her job and claimed constructivel wrongful and unfairly dismissal and sex discrimination). Questions arose as to assessment of compensation - she was awarded around £27K and claimed over £250K. On her appeal, the Court of Appeal allowed a small increase (Wall LJ drew attention to the costs being out of all proportion to the value of the award).
