D v Intel Corporation (UK) Ltd. - stress caused by excessive workload QBD 23.5.06

Mrs D sued Intel alleging that stress at work led to her breakdown and chronic depression, the stress being caused by i) reporting lines in her job being confused ii) insufficient assistance requiring her to work excessive hours.



The issues were forseeability and causation (Mrs D had earlier suffered depression after a termination and 2 occurences of postnatal depression - it was accepted by both sides there a likelihood that she would suffer a future breakdown in any case).
