HRH Prince of Wales v Associated Newspapers Ltd [2006] EWCA Civ 1776 - confidentiality - CA on 21.12.06

Prince Charles won a High Court order relating to eight hand written journals kept by him while on overseas tours between 1993 and 1999. Perhaps taking a leaf out of his father's book, in one of the journals he made disparaging comments about the Chinese. A secretary in his office, in breach of her employment contract terms, sent photo-copies of parts to the Mail on Sunday, which published them. Prince Charles sued Associated Newspapers for breach of confidence and inforingement of copyright and, in the main, won. Associated Newspapers appealed to the Court of Appeal and has lost.
