NUJ v Bristol United Press Ltd. - change of "appropriate barganing unit" - CAC 2.3.07

The NUJ was recognised by Bristol United Press following an application to the CAC in 2001. The CAC specified the "appropriate bargaining unit" (editors etc) and an agreement for a method of collective bargaining for that unit was agreed in 2002. Against the background of a redundancy exercise and a radical reorganisation of the EmployerÂ’s business, the parties agreed that the original unit was no longer appropriate. However, they disagreed as to what constituted an appropriate unit or units.
