Amicus v Ritrama (UK) Ltd - union recognition - CAC 13.3.07

On application by a trade union the Central Aribtration Committee must declare the union as recognised to conduct collective bargaining on behalf of a group of workers constituting a bargaining unit if it is satisfied, in essence, that a majority of the workers constituting that unit are members of the union who support the application and that there is no need for a ballot "in the interests of good industrial relations" (TULRCA 1992 Sch A1 para 22).
