Forbes v UK - widowers and widows benefits - ECtHR 12.6.07

Another case in which a widower claimed that UK rules under which social security benefits for widows were not payable to widowers were contrary to the European Convention on Human Rights. The UK has agreed, in principle, to settle all claims made by widowers against under the arrangements applicable prior to April 2001 for the payment Widowed Mother's Allowance and Widow's Payment and this case, along with others, has therefore been settled and the application removed from the Court list.
