GMB v Windowstyle (UK) Ltd - union application for recognition valid notwithstanding arguable defects - CAC 5.7.07

The CAC has accepted an application by GMB for recognition for collective bargaining purposes by Windowstyle (UK) Ltd in respect of a bargaining unit comprising "Foremen, General Cleaners, Production Operatives, Logistics & Ancillary Production Operatives and Remake staff shop floor workers". The employer argued that a petition supporting the union request for recognition could not be relied upon because (i) signatures were undated and (ii) there was "no evidence to say that these signatories were signing in support of Union recognition".
