Unite v The College of Law - recognition of law tutors as bargaining unit - CAC 4.7.07

The Unite trade union proposed all tutors at the Birmingham Branch of the College of Law as an appropriate bargaining unit. The College of Law said this proposal was not compatible with effective management. The Central Arbitration Committee has decided that the Unite union's proposed bargaining unit is not appropriate for recognition and that the appropriate bargaining unit is "all tutors (Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, Principal Lecturers and Associate Professors) employed by the College of Law, excluding Directors and Deputy Directors".
